"Bronze Age" cake pops...these are the vanilla ones, the chocolate ones were a bit darker but also very bronze-y. Making these was was a bit like applying self-tan to cake pops!

We just realized that Candyland Cakes had a first birthday a few days ago...thank you all for your support through a great first year! We might just have to bake ourselves a celebratory cake this weekend :)

A flourless chocolate cake for Easter - the cake is made with 6 eggs and ground almonds, making it gluten free (but certainly very rich - 5 Lindt 70% chocolate bars went into this one!). The layers are then separated with apricot jam and homemade chocolate ganache. Finally, the entire cake is covered in a thin layer of marzipan and coated with the chocolate ganache.
I can't wait to taste it tomorrow! My nest is rather lousy as I took a shortcut and made chocolate shavings with a vegetable peeler...there is a proper way to do it as Annie Rigg explains, but it involved more melting & cooling so I skipped that step! Happy Easter!
