Lemon honey & almond tarts

Jo's blue AGA has a new book Home Baking out (with lots of savoury bakes too!) and I couldn't resist trying out these honey almond lemon tarts...

Pony riding party cupcakes

Pink and chocolate cupcakes for a pony party for a 5 year old girl today

"Bronze Age" cake pops

"Bronze Age" cake pops...these are the vanilla ones, the chocolate ones were a bit darker but also very bronze-y. Making these was was a bit like applying self-tan to cake pops!

Pink week

This week was all pink - pink cupcakes for a girl turning 6, and pink cake pops for a favourite teacher's birthday. Only problem was I delivered them all without taking a single photo, oops!!

Berlin Marathon 2013 supporting Children with Cancer UK

Totally not cake-related and, for those of you who know me, please do not laugh when you read this:

I'm going to run the Berlin marathon this September to raise money for Children with Cancer UK!

I would be really, really grateful for your support. The link below is to my fundraising page. Thank you!

happy birthday candyland cakes!

Happy birthday Candyland Cakes

We just realized that Candyland Cakes had a first birthday a few days ago...thank you all for your support through a great first year!  We might just have to bake ourselves a celebratory cake this weekend :)

cake pops and cupcakes

We've been a bit slow to update our blog....recently we have baked baby boy cake pops and and very chocolate cupcakes for a little girl turning 5...

Easter cake

A flourless chocolate cake for Easter - the cake is made with 6 eggs and ground almonds, making it gluten free (but certainly very rich - 5 Lindt 70% chocolate bars went into this one!).  The layers are then separated with apricot jam and homemade chocolate ganache.  Finally, the entire cake is covered in a thin layer of marzipan and coated with the chocolate ganache.

I can't wait to taste it tomorrow!  My nest is rather lousy as I took a shortcut and made chocolate shavings with a vegetable peeler...there is a proper way to do it as Annie Rigg explains, but it involved more melting & cooling so I skipped that step!

Happy Easter!
